Ambassador Andrew Young received the USCM Joseph P. Riley Award for Leadership and Courage from the U.S. Conference of Mayors – which is given at the President’s discretion to an outstanding leader. USCM President Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson bestowed the honor during the 83rd Annual Meeting of The U.S. Conference of Mayors in San Francisco.

Andrew Young received Cote d’Ivoire’s highest civilian honor during a ceremony in Buckhead Oct. 8, 2014. Cote d’Ivoire’s prime minister, Daniel Kablan Duncan, presented Mr. Young with the “Commandeur de L’Ordre” at the ceremony that also marked the formal launch of the International University of Grand-Bassam Foundation.
Pan African Leaders Dinner (PALD)
A highly influential group of leaders representing African and African-American politics, business and international trade interests held the first annual Gathering of Pan-African Leaders at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC on Monday, August 4, 2014.
With this first event, the Pan African Leaders Dinner (PALD), the group chose to honor Ambassador Andrew Young for his tireless, pioneering leadership throughout his career to promote trade and investment opportunities between Africa and North America.
2014 Special Distinction: Freedom Summer Visionary Award (SCLC)
The 6th Annual Hidden Heroes Awards recognizes non-profit leaders that embody the ordinary person taking extraordinary action on behalf of others — the spirit that motivated Andrew Goodman to travel to Mississippi in 1964. This year, the event will also honor the 50th Anniversary of Freedom Summer, a pivotal moment in the Civil Rights Movement that drew 1000 college students to the Jim Crow South to register African-American citizens to vote.
